Legal Studies Career and Training Information

An associate’s degree in Legal Studies is a perfect route if you are considering studying any facet of the law.  Legal Studies contain a multitude of different courses which can increase your choices within your career.  A Legal Studies degree can lead to becoming a paralegal, as well as studying other aspects of the law that include:

  • Legal research
  • Legal assistant
  • Tax law
  • Foreign law
  • Judicial science
  • Corporate law

The Legal Studies programs that you can pursue online will help you find these career paths after graduating an accredited program.  If you finish the online curriculum, you may have enough understanding of law to begin law school before the rest of your colleagues.  In addition, you might also be able to find jobs within certain organizations and within the local and federal government.

The graduate of an associate’s program in Legal Studies will also find that they have garnered enough knowledge and see that their skills are in very high demand.  Since lawyer’s fees are becoming prohibitive for most, paralegals and judicial assistants are constantly being used for case investigation, probates, small claims litigation and estate matters.

The curriculum of a Legal Studies program may include courses in common law, English grammar and writing, liberal studies and extensive research.   Other courses might encompass learning a foreign language, contracts, or finance if they want to get ahead of the pack.  The Legal Studies program also prepares a student to help attorneys in many aspects of their work including researching cases, preparing important legal documents and interviewing their clients.  Sometimes, paralegals even have the added function of office supervision.  A Legal Studies associate’s degree can be an excellent stepping stone for those who wish to study the inner workings of the legal profession.
