Economics Career and Training Information

An Economics associate’s degree opens the door to careers in data analysis, stock brokerages, or obviously, an economist.  A curriculum in economics varies greatly from college to college but can include:

  • Economics Principles
  • Macroeconomics
  • Microeconomics
  • Financial Accounting
  • World Economic Trends
  • Business Law

among many others. Your coursework will give you an understanding of current and past trends in the economy, how to analyze and make the appropriate decisions about financial statements and investments.  When you finish the program, you should be able to evaluate specific economic directions and figure out how that might impinge upon the financial decisions of different companies and organizations.

Growth is inevitable for these jobs because of the growing demand for data analysts and well-schooled accountants.  Economists are currently very much in demand because of the current economic situation.   Generally, economics careers will open up as organizations have requirements for economists and data analysts.

Associate’s programs in economics mostly focus on:

  1. Economic theories
  2. The part that financial organizations play within our government and in the global economy, and
  3. How to apply the ethics of economic issues and systems

As you prepare yourself for an economics major, keep in mind that you can finish your associate’s degree and continue studying online in different bachelor’s degree programs.  The most important rule is to make sure that the programs are accredited so that any classes that you take can transfer successfully within online curricula.

As an economics major, you will be ready for a career in government, whether local or federal;  organizations that are for and non-profit; and for industry in general.  The global focus cannot be ignored; the economic trends that are opening up for people who are multicultural and multilingual are becoming infinite.
